1. Project-Based Pricing

Description:

A flat fee is quoted for a defined scope of work, based on the anticipated hours, complexity, and deliverables. This model provides clients with predictable costs and a clear understanding of what will be delivered.

Example Packages:

• Family Narrative Project: $1,000 for a 20-hour project (research, analysis, report writing, and citations).

• Document Retrieval Project: $250 minimum for up to 5 records located, transcribed, and cited.

• DNA Research Project (20-Hour Minimum): $1,000 (20 hours at $50/hr bundled) – includes DNA clustering, triangulation, building collateral trees, and a written conclusion under GPS standards.

2. Hourly Pricing

Description:

The client pays a standard hourly rate for all work performed, regardless of scope. This model is flexible for smaller, open-ended, or exploratory projects.

Rates & Minimums:

• Standard Genealogy Research: $50/hr (5-hour minimum = $250).

• Onsite Archival Research: $50/hr (travel billed separately; 3-hour minimum = $150).

• Consultation & Strategy Session: $50/hr (1-hour minimum = $50).

3. Hybrid Pricing

Description:

A combination of project-based fees and hourly billing. The project fee covers defined deliverables, while hourly billing applies to additional or unforeseen work outside the agreed scope. This model provides predictability with built-in flexibility.

Example Structures:

• Core Project + Overage: A 20-hour DNA analysis project at $1,000, with additional hours billed at $50/hr if new matches or collateral lines must be explored.

• Package + Consultation: A $500 family report package (10 hours), plus follow-up consultations billed hourly at $50/hr.

• Document Bundle + Extra Research: A $250 record retrieval package for 5 documents, with extended analysis or related research billed at $50/hr.

4. Engagement Minimums

To ensure quality research and reporting, the following minimum commitments apply:

• General Research Engagement: 5-hour minimum = $250

• DNA Research Engagement: 20-hour minimum = $1,000

• Consultation Only: 1-hour minimum = $50

• Record Retrieval (onsite or online): 3-hour minimum = $150

• Report Writing / Analysis (without new research): 2-hour minimum = $100

5. Terms of Service

• Retainer: A deposit of 50% is required before work begins.

• Deliverables: Final reports include transcriptions, images (where available), full citations in EE style, and written analysis of findings.

• Revisions/Clarifications: Included within the project fee. Expanded scope or new research questions will be billed under the hybrid model.
